Mrs. Mattie Nixon Gasque was born in Sumter County, Georgia on April 15, 1960 to the parentage of the late Mr. Eugene Nixon and the late Mrs. Mary Emma Carter Nixon. She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed as a CNA with the Springfield Municipal Hospital. She was married to the late Mr. David Gasque. Two brothers, Mr. Eddie Dean Nixon, Mr. Johnny Carter, and a  sister, Ms. Cora Nixon  precedes her in death.


           She leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (James) McCray, Leslie, GA, Ms. Diane Nixon and Ms. Willie Mae (Tony) Davey of Springfield, MA; three aunts, Ms. Lula Malone, Ms. Mary Dean Carter and Ms. Bobbie Smith all of Miami, FL; one uncle, Mr. Andrew Carter, Newark, NJ; her nieces, Ms. Mary DeSilva, Huntsville, Al, Mrs. Brenda (Luther) Alford, Americus, GA, Ms. Kimberly Bess, Ms. Delois Carter, Springfield, MA, Ms. Tiesha Bess, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Ms. Sharonda Nixon, Atlanta, GA, Ms. Linda Carter, Ms. Crystal Carter and Ms. Lisa Carter all of Jacksonville, FL; her nephews, Mr. Andrew (Lois) McCray, Woodbridge, VA, Mr. James McCray, Mr. John McCray, Mr. Michael McCray, Leslie, GA, Mr. Michael Bess, Mr. Mathew (Sharon) Bess, Mr. Rodrick (Tisha) Nixon-Johnson, Mr. Marquis Nixon all of Springfield, MA; two devoted friends, Mr. Efrem Henry, Atlanta, GA and Mr. Mickey Bess, Sr., Springfield, MA also survive.
