MR. HOLLIS FLOYD

Hollis was born on August 25, 1955 to the parentage of Otis Alford and Bernice Floyd Prince, both of whom survive, He departed this earthly life on January 20, 2012. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Frances Maddox on February 8, 2004. He was a humble man with a big heart and had a passion for cooking. He received his education in the Sumter County school system and in Chipley, Florida.  He was a tireless employee for 20 years with Powell Dairy Farms.  At an early age, he joined New Corinth Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Prince and his grandparents Ike Floyd and Riscoe Burton Floyd, who reared him as their own.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of eight years, Frances Floyd, Americus, GA; two sons: Sgt.  Hollis (Elaine) Floyd, Jr., Ft. Hood, TX and Deon Tarver, Atlanta, GA; four daughters: Melinda Floyd, and twins, Tamarica and Erica, all of Albany, GA and DeAngela Tullis, Americus, GA; his parents Otis (Annie Maude) Alford and Bernice (Oscar) Prince, both of Americus, GA; brothers: Emmett (Caroline) Floyd, Detroit, MI,  Arthur (Sandra) Prince, Willie (Linda) Prince, and Bobby (Stacy) Prince, all of Americus, GA; stepbrothers: Jeffery and Troy Boone, Americus, GA; sisters: Dorothy Floyd, Patricia Walton, Christine (Patrick) Harris, and Brenda (James) Baker, all of Americus, GA; stepsisters: Sarah, Mae, Diane and Suzette Boone, all of Americus, GA; uncles reared as his brothers: Jimmy (Mary) Floyd, Detroit, MI, David (Geraldine) Floyd, James (Gredene) Floyd, Ernest (Joann) Floyd, John (Pat) Floyd, and Amos Floyd , all of Americus, GA; aunt reared as his sister, Stella Robinson, Americus, GA; uncle, Mike (Martha) Alford, Americus, GA; aunts: Bessie Mae Alford and Ossie Mae (Robert) James, both of Americus, GA; three great aunts: Callie Floyd, Cassie Floyd and Vivian Roberts, all of Americus, GA; brothers-in-law: Andrew (Catherine) Maddox, Augusta, GA and Anthony Volley, Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law: Sarah (Jesse) Carson, Leila Mathis, Mary Ann (Lamar) Tarver, Neva Calloway, all of Americus, GA, Bethena Jackson, North Carolina and Jacqueline Maddox, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Caleb, Deidra, Iyuan, Deangelo, Jaida, Deanna, Savannah, De’veyon, Tamia, Tailyn, Gizelle, William and Selena; his best friend, Ulysses Preston, Leslie, GA; his DaVita and Sunset Park family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends also survive.
