MRS. DORINE FOSTER PHELPS

Mrs. Dorine Foster Phelps was born on March 2, 1935 in Washington, DC to the late Mr. Benjamin Langford Foster and the late Mrs. Helene Foster Hall. She was educated in the public schools of the District of Columbia. “Dor”, as she was affectionately called, was married to the late Mr. Clarence Phelps. They resided in DC for many years and while there, she was a member and a Deaconess of Union Temple Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Willie Wilson. She was a retired Federal Probation Officer and also a speaker for Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous. Dor toured the continental U.S. and Hawaii speaking for both organizations. She moved to Americus to be close to her son and his family, and there she continued to speak and conduct group meetings for the local chapters of NA and AA as well as volunteering with Serenity Farm and the Middle Flint Mental Health Association. She attended Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church and was a regular at the Lenora Lambard Senior Citizen Center. Dor was a woman of good spirits. She was funny and would dance at the drop of a hat. She will truly be missed.
