MRS. MYRTIS KELLY SIMS

 

           Mrs. Myrtis Kelly Sims was born on April 5, 1914 in Roanoke, Ala. to the late Mr. Alex Kelly and the late Mrs. Ada Dixon Kelly. She was educated in the public schools of Randolph County, Ala and has lived over 60 years in Americus, Sumter County, GA. Mrs. Sims was married to the late Rev. E. D. Sims, to this union 7 children were born.

           Until her health failed, Mrs. Sims was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church. While there she served on the Pastor’s Aide, Floral, and Deaconess Ministries; the Annex Committee and was a soloist with the choir. She was a member of the Minister’s Wives and Widows Association and Order of the Eastern Star. For many years, Mrs. Sims worked for the State of Georgia as an Aide at the local Head Start Day Care.

           She is survived by 5 sons, Mr. Paul A. Sims (Willa M.), Pemberton, NJ, Rev. Thomas E. Sims, Sr., Americus, GA, Rev. Bobby J. Sims (Pauline), Atlanta, GA, Deacon Calvin J. Sims (Rosa), Americus, GA, and Rev. Larry B. Sims, Sr. (Virginia), Americus, GA.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Willie Kate Blanch, Albany, GA and Pastor Dorothy M. Williams (Curtis L.) Albany, GA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren also survive.
