DEACON ERNEST WEST

 

           Deacon Ernest West was born on September 1, 1917 in Sumter County, GA to the late Mr. Garner West and the late Mrs. Eula Mott West. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he joined the Old Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. Deacon West was a farmer. He was married to the former Miss Agnes Foster. To their union 6 children were born. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mr. Carl and Mr. Freddie West.

           He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Mrs. Agnes Foster West, Americus, GA; his sons, Mr. Henry West ( Willette), St. Louis, MO, Mr. Willie J. West (Cynthia) and Mr. Freddie L. West, Newark, NJ and Mr. Charles L. West (Evelyn), Witchita Falls, TX; 2 daughters, Ms. Natherine Bartley and Ms. Beulah West Jackson, both of Americus, GA; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roberta West, Newark, NJ; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and sorrowing friends, also survive.
