MR. ROBERT DAVIS

Mr. Robert James Davis was born on July 22, 1959 in Americus, Georgia to Evelyn Davis Lester and Robert Lee Poole. He spent his adolescence in Bronx, New York and graduated from William Taft High School in 1977. He was an accomplished basketball player and continued competing in amateur and semi-professional leagues.

Robert served in the US Army approximately 10 years as a paratrooper and engineer, spending a portion of his military career in North Carolina and Germany. During this time, he wed Lorriane Harris on August 25, 1982. While caring for his family and supporting his wife through medical school, Robert juggled different professions and pursued a secondary degree in computer science with DeVry Institute. He most recently was employed as a security officer by Thorpe Enterprises.

 

Robert was an active member of Wheat Street Baptist Church of Atlanta. His interests included movies and sports. Family was absolutely paramount to Robert, who had a large, caring heart and left fond impressions on all who knew him. Bobby departed this world much too soon, but his love and passion for his family could fill several lifetimes. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Lester; his sister, Donna Davis; his daughters Erica and Racquel Davis and their mother, Dr. Lorriane Harris-Davis; and his son, Zion Tye.
