MR. ROBERT SCHLEY Mr. Robert Fitzgerald Schley was born in Sumter County, Georgia on July 21, 1949 to the parentage of the late Mr. Seaborn Schley, Sr. and the late Mrs. Lessie Williams Schley. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County graduating in 1966 from Sumter County High School. He furthered his education at Fort Valley State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1970 and a master’s in Urban Education from the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT in 1976. During his tenure at Fort Valley State, he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. For many years, he was employed as a Health Representative for the State of Maryland within Health and Human Services, and he was also a teacher. He was of the Baptist faith and at an early age, he joined Lebanon Baptist Church. He was also active in the community participating with the Sumter County Concerned Citizens organization and also serving on the Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Family & Youth Development Center’s Advisory Board. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Chester Schley, Samuel Schley, William Schley and Seaborn Schley, Jr. and one sister, Frances Schley. Mr. Schley leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers, Mr. Joseph (Mildred) Schley, Sr. and Mr. Edward (Deloris) Schley, both of Toledo, OH; four sisters, Mrs. Effie (Robert) Johnson, Mrs. Dorothy Stephenson, Mrs. Annette (Charles) Kirkland, all of Bloomfield, CT and Mrs. Cynthia (Rick) Bigby of Douglas, GA; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Schley of Bloomfield, CT and Mrs. Lela Schley of Toledo, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.
