MRS. RETHA HOWARD GOLDEN

 

Mrs. Golden was born February 16, 1919 in Cuthbert, Randolph County, GA to the parentage or the late Mr. Captain and Mrs. Fannie Howard.  She was educated in the public schools of Randolph County.  She is the last to survive of 9 children.  Her sisters, Katie, Della, Pearl and Florence and her brothers, Sylvester, Charlie, Willie and Walter have all pre-deceased her.  Her only child, Charlie Will McGrady, has also passed on.  She was married to the late Rev. Artis G. Golden on October 28, 1955.  She was a long time member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she sang in the Senior Choir.  She was also a member of the Ministers Wives and Widows of Sumter County.

           She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, including, Mr. Joe (Miriam) Franklin, Elder Larry (Peggy) Franklin, Plains, GA, Mr. Berlin (Ethel) Franklin, Seat Pleasant, MD, Mr. Ulysses (Rosa) Franklin, McDonough, GA, Mr. Sammie (Diane) Franklin, New London, CT, and Mr. Jackie (Rosa) Franklin, Americus, GA, Ms. Bettye Goins, McDonough, GA and Ms. Dorothy (Gordon) Crosby, Wellford, SC.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.
