VET. JOHN DAVID BATEMAN, affectionately called "Tight", was born on October 11, 1928 in Sumter County, GA to the late Mr. Edd Bateman and the late Mrs. Minnie Dean Bateman.  He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County, GA, graduating from A. S. Staley High School.  He served his country as a member of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.  For over 40 years, he resided in Florida.  In 2000, he returned home to live.

 

He leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, Mr. Robert Bateman and friend, Ms. Irene Johnson; three sisters, Ms. Annie L. Cobb, Ms. Mamie L. Prater and Ms. Daisy Bateman; Skip and Butch Jones that he raised as his sons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends also survive.
